Loake has been making Goodyear welted shoes at their Wood Street factory in Kettering, Northamptonshire since 1880. Still family-owned after five generations, each pair takes up to eight weeks to produce, involving approximately 130 skilled craftspeople and over 200 individual operations. Loake holds Royal Warrants from both Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III.
At BritBoot, Loake represents the formal and smart-casual end of our range. Where Solovair and Grinders serve the heritage boot market, Loake brings Northamptonshire craftsmanship to brogues, Oxford shoes, Chelsea boots, and Derby shoes. The 1880 Classic range — all Made in England — includes styles that have been in continuous production for decades.
Loake fits slightly differently to Solovair and Dr Martens. Most styles run true to UK sizing but tend towards a narrower fit. If you are between sizes, we recommend going up half a size. See our sizing guide for detailed cross-brand advice.
